Transformation Optics and Applications in Microwave Frequencies

چکیده
Modern electrical and communication technologies benefit from classical electrodynamics and electric circuits, both of which are based on the Maxwell’s equations. Using the property of metric invariance in Maxwell’s Equations, transformation optics has been proposed and achieves a rapid progress in the past decade. Transformation optics is a method for the conceptual design of complex electromagnetic media, offering opportunities for the control of electromagnetic waves. In this paper, we introduce the general theory of transformation optics and discuss the recent development on the transformation devices in the microwave band, such as non-singular invisibility cloak and its realization in dc circuit, three-dimensional ground-plane cloaks, flattened Luneburg lens, highperformance antennas, and high-resolution imaging lens. Some of the transformation-optics-based devices are expected to have further impact on the microwave engineering applications.

Compact-sized and broadband carpet cloak and free-space cloak.
Recently, invisible cloaks have attracted much attention due to their exciting property of invisibility, which are based on a solid theory of transformation optics and quasi-conformal mapping. Two kinds of cloaks have been proposed: free-space cloaks, which can render objects in free space invisible to incident radiation, and carpet cloaks (or ground-plane cloaks), which can hide objects under ...
متن کاملTransformation optics with Fabry-Pérot resonances
Transformation optics is a powerful tool to design various novel devices, such as invisibility cloak. Fantastic effects from this technique are usually accompanied with singular mappings, resulting in challenging implementations and narrow bands of working frequencies. Here in this article, Fabry-Pérot resonances in materials of extreme anisotropy are used to design various transformation optic...

The field of optics-microwave interactions can generally be defined as the study of highspeed photonic devices operating at microwave, millimeterwave or even THz frequencies and their use in microwave or photonic systems. In this multidisciplinary field at the interface between microwave techniques, ultrafast electronics and photonic technologies, typical investigations include, for example, hi...
متن کاملOptical Concentrators with Simple Layered Designs
A microwave prototype of field concentrator was recently fabricated, based on the combination of transformation optics and Fabry-Pérot resonances. Perfect electric conductors used as design elements is however, impossible when the working frequencies go to infrared or optical frequencies. Here in this paper, we show that layered structure with alternating dielectrics of positive and negative pe...
متن کاملExperimental Demonstration of Anomalous Field Enhancement in All-Dielectric Transition Magnetic Metamaterials
Anomalous field enhancement accompanied by resonant absorption phenomenon was originally discussed in the context of plasma physics and in applications related to radio-communications between the ground and spacecraft returning to Earth. Indeed, there is a critical period of time when all communications are lost due to the reflection/absorption of electromagnetic waves by the sheath of plasma c...
